For some reason I can play Warcraft 3 The Frozen Throne without a CD?

I accidently clicked play warcraft 3 the frozen throne without any cd in my disk drive, yet for some reason I can play it normally.

Why is this?
It's a PC game by the way.

Also, I haven't done anything dodgy to it for it not to need a CD, I downloladed everything normally.

It is also a legal copy of the game.
I meant legal copy as I have a legal copy which I downloladed it on.

1. some games do that

2. Many pc games install all the necessary files onto your hard-drive to run without a cd....it's no big deal.

3. Since patch 1.21b, Warcraft doesn't ask for your CD anymore. This is a great addition to the game by Blizzard. You can read more about patch milestones here: http://www.3ice.hu/blog/patch-warcraft/#milestones
